Oxfam GB is changing its approach to programming and resource mobilisation in Asia.
Oxfam GB will be working to leverage our technical expertise, financial resources, and personnel to support the delivery of high quality programmes focussing on economic justice, women’s empowerment and equality, and water and sanitation to people living in poverty.
We will focus principally on building a strong portfolio of funding from priority donors who can sustain and grow Oxfam’s programmes throughout the region. We will adopt a new business development approach to complement more traditional fundraising practices, and encourage building partnerships with a new range of stakeholders including academic institutions, commercial firms, local authorities, and civil society groups. We will lend our technical expertise in both grant s and commercial contracts to capture new opportunities for Oxfam’s programmes.
To achieve this ambition, we are strengthening our global team of professionals who can support country and regional programme staff in resource mobilisation. We are appointing a Business Development Manager in Asia who will play a pivotal role in linking programme staff to new business opportunities, in ensuring adequate capacity to support the design of new funding proposals, and in building stronger relationships with our priority donors and partners. With a specific remit for Asia the Business Development Manager will work collaboratively with staff at headquarters, country offices, and regional platforms to secure and manage funding for Oxfam GB’s thematic programme priorities in 10 countries - Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Thailand, and Tajikistan.
The incumbent will work within a globally-networked, high-performing team of professionals who help secure more than £200m per annum in funding from institutional donors for Oxfam’s humanitarian response, long-term development, and advocacy programmes.
The successful candidate for this role will be a development professional who possesses a track record of success in both resource mobilisation and partnership building. Dynamic individual with a strong understanding of programming, awareness of the development context in Asia, and familiarity with global trends in order to drive effective engagement with donor partners and other stakeholders in the market.
The successful candidate will be a team player who works pro- actively with country programme teams and technical advisors to create, cultivate and capture new business opportunities for Oxfam.
The Business Development Manager will be able to work positioning Oxfam GB as the partner of choice for resource mobilisation and new business development.
The Business Development Manger will able to extend the scope and diversity of Oxfam’s relationships with a range of other partners in the external market – international donors, private sector companies, and non-governmental agencies alike – who share are our vision for the elimination of extreme poverty.
The position will require extensive international travel to countries within the region.
