The Ideas Box Program


LWB/BSF and Philippe Starck have created the Ideas Box, a revolutionary toolkit and approach enabling access to information, education and cultural ressources for isolated and vulnerable populations, as well as those victims of humanitarian crises.

Rugged, easy to transport and to handle, and with its own power source, the Ideas Box is a standardized media-center containing highly adaptable contents that can be deployed in less than 20 minutes and can be used in either fixed or mobile contexts.

The Ideas Box comes with an Internet connection, tablets, a 250-book collection adapted to the users and context where it will be implemented, e-readers, numerous digital and pedagogical resources, a cinema, arts and crafts materials and much more.

BSF and Terre des homme in Ioannina

Within the context of the refugee humanitarian crisis in Greece, LWB/BSF and Terre des Hommes (in partnership with the University of Ioanina) are building a partnership for the implementation of an Ideas Box and 5 koombook kits on different sites in the Epirus region. The activities implemented will focus on:

  • Non-formal education activities for the children, with a focus on both cognitive and affective development, complementing the governmental program of formal education.

  • Psychosocial activities extended to the whole population (children and their caregivers) with the objectives to develop skills and social links between refugees, citizens and local actors

Within the context of the establishment of one Ideas Box and 5 koombook kits, and under the authority of BSF country representative, the project coordinator will be ensuring the good implementation and course of the project in partnership with Terre des hommes and other local partners, (including the main partner, the University of Ioanina), by :

· Ensuring overall coordination with the field partners and organizing

o On site coordination meetings twice a month (on each site)

o Monthly coordination meetings (including the 6 sites)

· Creating links with the BSF country representative and potentially directly with the HQ

· Supervising the reporting (Collecting the data on each site and compiling) and reporting to the country representative

· Supervising the Ideas Box and Koombooks ’ contents’ updating process (by collecting and compiling the feedbacks upon cultural resources on each site and share them with the country representative)

· Punctual participation and support to the Ideas Box/Koombooks activities

· Submitting proposals of reorientation of the activities by:

o Advising on the cultural mediation & the structuration of activities to the operational teams

o Submitting alternative ways of realization for those activities and coordinating their implementation according to BSF values and technics

· Providing Technical support and making links with BSH HQ technical department

· Representing BSF values and actions in the discussions with other organizations

· Writing regular narrative reports for the country representative

· Sharing with the country representative any concern about security aspect

  • Knowledge of monitoring, evaluation methodologies and protocols, and reporting of projects
  • Knowledge and understanding of the humanitarian response system (funders, coordination, UN, NGOs, etc.)
  • A good computer literacy ( Digital technology skills, Internet, Numerical tools)
  • Fluent in English and Greek is mandatory
  • Speaking Arabic or Farsi will be a plus
  • Knowledge of basics security rules


Field experience, especially within a socio-cultural project

Direct Experience in animation and direct work with a public and especially refugee’s population
