We are seeking to appoint an outstanding teacher to the role of Head of Art, Design and Technology, to commence in Term One, 2017.

The Art, Design and Technology Department at The Peninsula School aims to provide a unique, vibrant and imaginative set of learning experiences which cater for the individual differences of all students from Years K to 12. Our students are inspired to think, imagine, create and appreciate.

This department strives to encourage and facilitate learning, which allows students to respond creatively to problems and situations in a supportive, safe environment. The aim is to offer culturally expanding experiences which will allow our students to embrace change and become independent, resourceful and innovative members of a culturally diverse contemporary society.

Furthermore, the Art, Design and Technology Department encourages each individual to see their own potential and reach beyond it in the pursuit of excellence.

All Students at The Peninsula School study Art from Prep through to Year 8 in purpose-built facilities. From Years 9 to 12 there is an elective program offering students a wide variety of opportunities including a strong and vibrant VCE program. Art Exhibitions are important features of the annual calendar at The Peninsula School. 

The successful applicant will:

  • have the ability to lead and inspire a team of Art, Design and Technology teaching professionals
  • demonstrate advanced computer skills, particularly in relation to Art and Design software applications, ordering and budget management and reporting to students and parents.
  • have a sound knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety in the Art, Design and Technology classroom setting
  • be experienced in Curriculum Design in the Art, Design and Technology field
  • be an exemplary and innovative classroom practitioner with experience teaching VCE Studio Art, Visual Communication and Design or Product Design and Technology
  • have strong knowledge of methods of presenting and promoting student Art, Design and Technology work to a variety of audiences

The successful candidate will be an energiser, able to positively influence the work of colleagues and students.

The successful applicant will be appointed to an ongoing teaching role. The appointment to the Head of Department position will be for an initial three-year period. Further information relating to the terms & conditions of this appointment will be discussed at interview.
